Aion Crafting Guide
For the purpose of this Aion crafting guide, I'm going to assume everyone is a newbie to MMORPGs have no idea what crafting is, this is Aion crafting guide is going to cover all the basic from what the hell is crafting and profession, and some basic general information on ever crafting profession in Aion.
What is Crafting in Aion?
In ever MMORPG that I have played there is a crafting system, so what is a crafting system? Just like in real life some people are create food, some creates furniture, some makes cars, and some tailor cloth, all of which are trade skill to create material for trade or to use. Likewise in order to create a illusion of a complete society, many MMORPG has adopted the trade skill system or crafting system.
All MMORPG crafting system are design to support the in game economy allowing players to master in certain trade skill and make money with it. In away the crafting system is also a money sucker for the companies of those games, because why you might have got bored of constant grinding to level, killing monsters, or getting killed, the crafting system gives you something to do so you wouldn’t quit the game. Not everyone is going to like to craft, I personally don’t like crafting, but I still do it because it provides a good way to earn money in game.

Getting Started
There are a total of six different crafting skills that you can choose from in Aion. You can become and Alchemist, a Cook, an Armorsmith, a Weapon Smith, a Tailor (also known as Sewing in game), or an Handcrafter.
Choosing your Profession
Can I master every single crafting profession? NO! you can't be jack of all trade with the Aion crafting system. Your allow to master any two profession of your choose upon the official NA/EU release version, which means you can work every single craft skill up till 399 and only pick two of them to go behind or master in.
Alchemy
Alchemy isn't a skill you should master in my opinion, unless you are a Sorcerer or a Spirit Master wants to craft the best spellbooks and orbs. That being said, Alchemy is a skill that you should definitely work on until you have reached 399 skill level, why? because it is so useful. With alchemy you can create Manastones, potions, and scrolls. During late game potions and scrolls are extremely important when it comes to PVP or PVE, having ability to craft your own potions and scrolls in large amount really comes in handy.
Two down side to Alchemy, your poor, and it takes up a lot of your inventory space and bank spaces. Between Abyss potions, cheap materials, and easy to craft, makes Alchemy not an idea craft profession to earn money with. The only item you can possibly earn money from are good orbs and spellbooks, but it is a wasted of time unless you're a mage.
Cooking
There are no surprise here, you will be making food and lots of it. The Cooking profession is very similar to Alchemy, it is a commodities good trade skill. Foods in Aion are customable items just like potions and scroll, they act like portable buff and when used it raises or boost certain stats of your character temporary. Just like Alchemy you will be poor as a cook, because the skill is easy to master and the materials are not that hard to obtain for most foods. However, if consume a lot of food because you like to be constantly buff then Cooking is your profession, otherwise don’t worry about it I’m sure someone in your guild would pick it up
Armorsmithing
Armor Smith are for crafting heavy armors, and shields, if your class uses any of the follow chain armor, plate armor or a shield, than it is time to pick up this profession. In Aion gear matters, and if you're like me and most people who wants the top of the line gears than Armor smith is really useful and important. There are only two ways to obtain high quality gears at high level, item drops from VERY RARE mobs and BOSS mobs, or you can craft them. Having a full set of the top quality gears will make a huge different for your character in PVE and most importantly PVP.
Aether, Ores, and Kinah are your the most required materials for Armor smith, and when it come to making Armor smith it's not advice. Crafting armor is expensive, and time consuming, really only the top quality gear with good stats will sell for good money. You can only obtain top quality gold or blue gears when what most people like to call it “proc”, and the armors that don’t proc are worth less than the money you invest into them.
Note: I’ll cover procing later on in this Aion Crafting Guide.
Weaponsmithing
Weapon smith profession is for crafting swords, mace, polearms, greatswords, and daggers. Just like Armor smith it is highly time consuming and expensive, but it is also a great way to create really powerful and unique high end weapons. Weapon smith also requires to proc in order to craft high quality blue, gold items. Weapon smith is also not recommended for earning fast money, however if your an Assassin, Templar, or Gladiator It is definitely a good choose to pick up Weapon smith.
Sewing
Sewing is the cloth armor, leather armor, and belt version of Armor smith, while Armor smith are design for the heavy armor class like the Warrior and Priest, Sewing is design for the light weights Scouts and Mage. Again Sewing also requires proc to create high quality unique armors. As for making money with Sewing it is even worse than Armor smith due to a low popularity of the goods created, but if you're a Scout or a mage it's not a bad idea to master this profession.
